Sustainability
At SOPM, we take pride in our commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability. As a leading provider of high-quality thermoplastic playground markings for the trade, we recognise the importance of minimising our ecological footprint and contributing to a greener future.
Our Sustainability Commitment
Sustainability is at the core of our business values. We believe that a thriving environment is essential for the well-being of communities worldwide. By integrating sustainable practices into our operations, we aim to not only deliver first-class products but also make a positive impact on the planet.
Eco-Friendly Materials
All our playground markings, car park and road markings are made using the highest quality pre-formed thermoplastic. The environmentally conscious production methods employed in crafting thermoplastic position it as an excellent substitute for traditional painted markings.
- More than 50% of the energy used to manufacture the thermoplastic material comes from renewable sources like windmills.
- More than 70% of the binder material is made from renewable resources.
- More than 90% of our glass beads are made of recycled glass.
- All coloured pigments used in our product are organic.
- Less than 1.5% of production volume is allowed as waste.
- Less than 1L of water is used per ton produced.
Less than 2% of CO2 is produced per kg of thermoplastic. Our standard Mile a Day playground marking at 1m x 1m weighs around 5.3kg, meaning there are only approx. 90 grams of CO2 produced in the manufacturing of enough material for this design.
All our thermoplastic markings are sent in recyclable cardboard packaging.

Resource Efficiency
Crafting Quality with Precision: Our thermoplastic markings are precision-cut using our state-of-the-art waterjet cutting machine. We cut up to 10 sheets simultaneously for efficiency, and each cutting file is strategically positioned on the thermoplastic sheet before being cut, maximising material use and minimise wastage. Any wastage produced is then diverted away from landfills, finding a second life as a valuable energy source.
Ultra-Durable Excellence: Embodying our commitment to longevity and sustainability, all our markings are crafted from an ultra-durable preformed thermoplastic. Far surpassing the durability of conventional paint, thermoplastic boasts anti-slip properties and is tailor-made for high-traffic areas. Its extended lifespan eliminates the need for frequent refreshments, with a minimum durability of 4 years, often extending to an impressive 10 years. This enduring quality, coupled with reduced maintenance demands, positions thermoplastic as an inherently sustainable choice for marking playgrounds, car parks, and roads.
Eco-Friendly Endurance: The sustainability doesn’t stop at durability. SOPM’s preformed thermoplastic is not only robust but also environmentally conscious. We prioritise sustainability by significantly extending the life cycle of our markings, contributing to a reduction in frequent replacements. This conscious choice is underscored by our commitment to utilising non-toxic materials, ensuring that our thermoplastic is free from lead or chromates. Choosing SOPM means choosing a commitment to eco-friendly endurance in every playground, car park, and road marking project.

Carbon Footprint
At SOPM, we take concrete steps to offset 100% of our estimated carbon emissions. This dedication extends from the initial production of thermoplastic markings to their readiness for dispatch from our warehouse. Our carbon offsetting strategy covers employee commuting, freight, fuels, electricity, materials, waste, and water usage.
Community Engagement
Community engagement is more than a commitment; it’s a cornerstone of our ethos. We actively seek opportunities to make a positive impact on the communities we serve. From collaborating with local play and line marking companies to supporting educational initiatives on sustainable practices, SOPM is dedicated to fostering relationships that extend beyond our business operations.
Our involvement goes hand in hand with our sustainability goals, ensuring that our products not only enhance spaces but also contribute to the well-being of the communities where they are applied.

Certifications and Standards
At SOPM, our thermoplastic markings adhere to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications. ISO 14001, a global environmental standard, underscores our commitment to sustainable manufacturing, ensuring the highest quality while meeting stringent environmental benchmarks.
ISO compliance at SOPM isn’t a mere formality – it’s a promise to raise industry standards. Our dedication guarantees that our thermoplastic markings, beyond their quality, are produced with a conscious effort to minimise environmental impact. SOPM is your choice for sustainability aligned with global standards.
